Homophones are words that have exactly the
 same sound (pronunciation) but different meanings and (usually) spelling.
The word homophone is made from two combining forms:
  • homo- (from the Greek word "homos", meaning "same"
  • -phone (from the Greek word "phone", meaning "voice" or "sound"
